No Kidding: NetVU User Conference to Stream Live on IJ.com Thursday

March 24, 2015

A Vertafore insurance technology consultant, an insurance agency customer service representative, and an insurance carrier IT manager walk into a bar…

What’s so funny about insurance technology?

The answer will come this Thursday, March 26, at 1:00 pm ET/10:00 am PT when video from the Network of Vertafore Users (NetVU) conference will be streamed live on ÈȵãºÚÁÏJournal.com.

During the 90-minute segment that will be live-streamed, corporate comedian and host Greg Schwem promises to reveal the humor behind IT and insurance.

Also during the live stream segment, Vertafore leaders will unveil the firm’s newest products and partnerships, customers will demonstrate how they are using Vertafore products, and Guy Weismantel, Vertafore’s vice president of marketing, will share the tech company’s vision for the future.

Debbie Miner, a technical services manager and bond specialist at Henriott Group Inc. and chairman of the Vertafore board, will also speak. Henriott Group is an independent insurance and employee benefit consulting firm in Lafayette, Indiana.

The live streaming video will come direct from the insurance technology firm’s user conference site in Indianapolis under a special agreement between the technology firm and the media company.

The streaming video segment is merely a slice of the multi-day NetVU user conference at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, where Vertafore says more than 3,000 professionals from carriers and agencies will be gathered at its biggest event ever.

“The NetVU group provides a valuable forum for insurers and agents to learn, explore and collaborate on technology needs that will help them drive productivity and, in turn, growth,” said Vertafore’s Weismantel. “The annual conference is where we translate that feedback into a formalized blueprint.”

Those attending in-person in Indianapolis will witness additional product demos, participate in workshops with peers and obtain training from specialists. As a bonus, they will also hear from Peyton Manning, Denver Broncos quarterback, and Robin Roberts, Good Morning America tv-show co-anchor.

Media Technology

This is the second streaming video on ÈȵãºÚÁÏJournal.com within a week. Last week, the insurance media site used video streaming to debut a special interview with Hank Haldeman, son of the late H.R. Haldeman, Nixon’s former chief of staff and a central figure in Watergate scandal.

“Live streaming on ÈȵãºÚÁÏ Journal is a new way for companies to get their information out to the industry,” said Dena Kaplan, associate publisher, who worked with Vertafore to make the online event happen. “It’s innovative and it’s new for us and we are excited to push it out there with Vertafore.”

Julie Tinney, chief marketing officer, Wells Media Group and ÈȵãºÚÁÏ Journal, said the live streaming video is in keeping with the media company’s history of technological innovation and experimentation.

“Some even say that the team is a little ‘geeky’ over here,” said Tinney. “We love that!”

Humorist Schwem makes his living telling jokes to business and professional groups. , he said that when he was told the “gig” was for an audience of both insurance and technology people, he said, “That really is every comedian’s dream —to do a show for that audience!”

Access to the Vertafore NetVU live stream will be available on Thursday, March 26, at 1 pm ET/10 am PT on ÈȵãºÚÁÏJournal.com.
